  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but results are on the dark side. I've been using ION cream hair colour for years and it does it a great job. However, the colours are darker than other brands, and the ash colours could be more ashey. I've gone one colour up and it works great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Colour is off This is not blonde. 6A is brown. The colour is nice but it's not blonde. This is disappointing because it also turned red. How does Ash turn Red?

What permanent blonde hair colour for dark brown hair without going ash or bronze? Currently have gold blonde highlights that are growing out.  Thanks.

Asked by: Elizabeth24
Depends on how light gold or dark gold your highlights are ... You may also have to lighten your roots first but I would pick and light or medium gold blonde

I lightened my sons hair from light ash brown with a store bought L’Oréal ultra long get natural blonde.  It’s nice but he would like it lighter and with no tones in it.  I have some Ion High Lift cool blonde permanent colour here.  Need vol 20 with it?

Asked by: Jeen2170
When did you lighten it? You can’t lighten bleached hair with colour. It may work but High Lift Cool Blonde is always mixes with double 40vol.  You would have to re-bleach to get it lighter as using the High Lift will only slightly lift it but it will cause the already lightened hair to turn an off tone it won’t make it lighter.

I last colored my hair 6 months ago my roots have definitely grown since then I have previous light brown colored hair and my roots are dark brown i wish to do it light brown again should I prelighten the bottom or dye on top of it

Asked by: riridarwish
I would just lighten the new growth, then dye that. For the dye, you could go two ways. If the old colour is fading, do a full head application. If it's not fading and you're concerned about build up, apply to the new growth, leave for 1/2 the time stated, then pull the dye through your hair to ensure a smooth blend. Leave it that way for the duration of the stated time, then rinse as directed. I use a wide tooth comb for my pull through. Hope this helps!

Has anyone had an issue with this dye being too thick? Had issues getting it out of the tube and now it won't mix with developer. Too old?

Asked by: Wunnymuzh2
Yes, I had such a hard time getting it out of the tube that it cracked and came out the side. It also took me a long time to get it to mix properly. Too bad it take so much effort to use, as I love the brand and the colour
