  • Pre-lighten the hair to desired level before applying toner. Mix 1 part Wella Color Charm toning color with 2 parts 20 volume Wella Color Charm developer. Apply to towel dried hair then, develop for up to 30 minutes. Check frequently to see if desired results are achieved.
  • You can customize the toner formula by intermixing shades. For example, if you want a shade that is in between an ash tone and a warm tone, try mixing equal parts of T-18 and T-14 with equal parts of T-11 or T-35.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Please Choose the Correct Creme Developer So although in the instructions it says to use 20 volume developer, I would advise that if you are at your desired level of lightness do not use 20. Because you only want to deposit colour use 10 volume instead.

I have no clue what toner to use to help with toning my hair. How do I know which toner to buy?

Asked by: Justiss1
If you're hair is alright light and you're looking to get rid of the yellow pigment in your hair I would go for a wella T14 or a T18. The T14 is my best bet when I'm trying to make my hair icy grey or white

I have used red box dye in my hair before and I am now trying to go blonde, I’ve bleached my hair but there are a few sections of orange I can not bleach out, would the T18 toner lighten it ? I’m so lost on what to do. My roots are white now too.

Asked by: Redeyejedi
You have to bleach those specific sections in foils. Toner does not bleach hair and the t 18 covers orange and yellow tones not red. The best thing to do would be to foil those dark parts in bleach.

pls help! I recently bleached my hair and then used the t18. it didn’t turn out well as my hair wasn’t light enough to begin with. I’m going for a beige/ashy blonde, what should I do? should i bleach it + tone again or JUST apply a toner?

Asked by: krisss__
I had this issue! I re bleached the darker spots then did a tone again, hope this helps!

I have ashy brown roots with grown out brassy highlights. I’m hoping to tone my hair instead of dyeing it to preserve its health. I am wondering what type of toner and developer I should use to bring my brassy orange hair back to life? Thanks!

I personally prefer Wella T14 toner and that needs to be paired with any developer 20, my favourite is the Ion sensitive scalp cream developer
